Also known as Chir or Imodi pine it is one of the most ornamental of all the pine species with its long lacy needles, dramatically buttressed trunk and fissured dark brown shaggy bark. Very fast growing and productive of excellent edible pine nuts. Widely harvested for timber in its native range it is also tapped for its useful resin. Grows 60 to 80 feet tall and is hardy down to around 10F.
